A week long camp (4 days, Monday through Thursday) for the kids ages 10+ to take advantage of the equipment in the Fab Lab at Lake Michigan College. Explore the Fab Lab with this health science / medical themed camp. Participants will be complete a variety of projects while learning various machines.
Sample Projects include:
- Laser and Sew a plushie together to practice your sutures on
- A visit to the Medical Assisting lab at the College to work with future phlebotomists
- Learn CPR and other life saving measures
- Learn the skull and facial muscles by lasering cardboard to create a mask
- Create Organs with the vinyl cutter and sew an apron together to learn the digestive track
- 3D printing a human heart or brain while learning anatomy
- Software- Computer Skills
- Learn Adobe Illustrator and create your own designs
- Create 3D models with Fusion 360
Participants should be at least 10 years old to participate within this camp. Proper attire is also needed. No open toed shoes or loose clothing. No “dangling” jewelry and all hair will need to be tied back. Due to tech availability, not all departments will be open each day. Projects are subject to change based on social distancing guidelines.
Registration for this camp closes one week prior to allow time to purchase required materials. Registration is limited. Projects are subject to change based on material availability. The Fab Lab is a place where students can build science, technology, engineering and math skills through hands on learning. Participating in Fab Lab activities allow students to explore and experiment with digital fabrication technology including 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, and Vinyl Cutters.
